first impressions.

We arrived at Brisbane this morning at 6 am after a 14 hour flight. That was the longest flight that I have ever been on, but it wasn't so bad because I luckily slept the entire time (and just happened to wake up for both meals). After arriving at the airport, we went through customs pretty quickly and continued on our 2.5 hr drive south to the small seaside town of Lennox Head.

My favorite thing to do when I get to a new place is to go on a run to explore and to learn how to get around. Naturally the first thing I did upon arriving was to go on a run with two other girls in the program, Lexi and Allie. We ran through town and it was so beautiful. Lennox Head is a classic seaside town with an absolutely beautiful view. The town consists of a small downtown area with restaurants and small shops. After this downtown area we kept running along the coast until we arrived at a spectacular viewing area that overlooked the entire town. It was also great weather so I was excited to take advantage of the last bit of their summer weather before it starts to cool down for winter.

At night, we walked into town for drinks and dinner. Since its such a small town there isn't much of a nightlife, but we went to the Lennox Head Hotel, or the pub as the locals call it, we had about half an hour to kill before our reservation so we ordered drinks. I had a delicious glass of Australian white wine. For dinner they made me a special vegan curry that was also really great. After dinner we did some grocery shopping for breakfast and lunch. It was very different from shopping in the US because they don't have the millions of unnecessary options that US has. I just bought the essentials of oatmeal, fruit, peanut butter, and carrots.

Once getting home, we played some cards and I went to bed pretty early because I was extremely exhausted. Overall, my first day in Australia was a great one that got me really excited for what is to come!
